When you decide to tell someone, make sure you are 99-100% certain that they will support you. Other tips for this are on Therian Guide. You can also send them this video by Thorn.

A therianthrope (therian) is a person who deeply identifies as an animal on non-physical level. This might be either psychlogical (the therian's minds interpret their existence as such), spiritual (so like a past life, or split soul), or even both. A person can't choose to be a therian, as this happens involuntarly. Everyone experience therianthropy a little different, but it is always mental, and therians know that they have human bodies. This is different to Clinical Lycanthropy, where a person actually thinks they have a non-human body.

A therian may experience 'shifts', which are moments or periods of time where the individual experiences an animalistic instinct, feeling, mindset, etc. There are different types of shifts, the most common being mental shift (the therian's mindset changes to be more like their theriotype's), and phantom shift (the therian feels their theriotype's body part, like ears, a tail, or a muzzle). There are many more types of shifts, but those are the most common. Shifts vary in strength, length, and can be positive or sometimes negative experiences.

Therianthropy is not a religion, connection, role-play, fandom or disorder. For more information, you could watch some of PD's or Thorn's videos, or check out the parent section (if you are a parent, obviously) here.
